Terms of service

The short version
Your data stays yours, you can export it at any time, and we'll treat you the way we'd want a vendor to treat us. The longer version follows.
The service
SpecLatch provides a hosted product-data platform: structured records, engineering-aware fields, document generation, and publishing tools. SpecLatch is a young product: features may change, and we may occasionally schedule maintenance windows; we'll communicate anything disruptive in advance.
Your account and organization
- You're responsible for the accuracy of what your organization puts into SpecLatch.
- Keep your sign-in credentials to yourself; you're responsible for activity under your account.
- Don't use SpecLatch to store or distribute unlawful content, or to attack the service or others.
Your data
Everything your organization enters remains your organization's property. We process it only to operate the service (see the privacy policy). A full export of your data is available from inside the app at any time — including if a trial or subscription lapses, in which case the workspace becomes read-only but export always works.
Billing
Every new workspace starts with a free 30-day trial — no payment method required. Paid plans and their prices are published on the pricing page and are billed through Stripe, monthly or annually, with automatic renewal at the end of each billing period.
- Plan changes. Upgrades take effect immediately and the difference is prorated. Downgrades take effect at the end of the period you've already paid for — you keep what you paid for until then.
- Refunds. Charges for a started billing period aren't refunded; cancelling stops the next renewal rather than clawing back the current period.
- Price changes. If a plan's price changes, we'll announce it at least 30 days in advance, and it applies from your next renewal — never mid-period.
- Plan limits. Exceeding a plan limit pauses adding more of that thing; it never deletes or hides what's already there.
- Non-payment. If a subscription lapses or payment fails past the retry window, your workspace becomes read-only — we don't delete your data for non-payment, and export keeps working.
Warranty and liability
The service is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amounts you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. You remain responsible for verifying generated documents before relying on them commercially.
Ending things
You can stop using SpecLatch and delete your organization at any time. We may suspend accounts that break these terms, after reasonable notice where practical.
